Walking trees

Walking Trees

by Betsy Barnum

Humans and trees are the only creatures on Earth that live their entire lives upright. Our basic shape is similar- straight up and roundish. It is intuitive that we would have an affinity for trees, respond to them, connect with them. And, as upright beings who are not rooted but can move, it seems fitting that we would think of them as our anchored counterparts, slower in their rhythms than we are, but sharing the spirit of creatures that reach both up and down, connecting heaven and Earth--and that we would be their spirit in motion, as well as their protectors and defenders, knowing their voice and speaking their words in our language.

A wedding on the Hampshire-Berkshire borders

I've added some photos of Lara & Gav's wedding. They've come out a bit grainy but at least you get the gist.

Ireland

I've added some photo's of my trip to Ireland for all to view and enjoy. The weather was as expected - wet, but the craic was good!
I think I managed to fit as much in as possible:
Thursday - Inishmore, the largest of the Arann Islands. We cought the boat out andf hired some cycles to get aroung. Highlights have to be the hill fort Dun Aonghusa literally on the edge of the Atlantic and a fantastic fish and chips lunch.
Friday - A road trip through the Burren National Park (A vast area of protected limestone pavement similar to parts of the Yorkshire Dales). We saw stones, rocks, more stones and a trip down into Aliwee Caves. The eveing was spent at a wedding in Adare near Limerick.
Saturday - We dove back from the wedding to Galway to watch the All-Ireland Gaelic Footbal playoff match for a place in the Quarter Finals. The match between Galway and Westmeath was a dissapointment unless you are from Westmeath. Still great to go and watch a match.
Sunday - A live open air concert in Eyre Square as part of the Galway Arts Festival was being held. The headliners Saw Doctors (a favourite local band) we're entertaining. Not often you see a band playing songs about football, main roads, islands, counties, rocks & bogs. A good change from the drivel on tv and radio...
Monday - Galway Races. Apparently the biggest social event of the year in Ireland! And it seemed that way despite the torrential downpours during the day. Around 20k people for the opening day. We didn't have any winners, but managed to pick out plenty of placed horses.
So that's it until Russia!

If anything does eat wasps, why does it eat wasps?
